EU directive: light bulbs to be replaced

A new EU directive replaces light bulbs with ‘dark suckers’ after a ‘proof of concept’ theorem by Professor Albert Schwarzenegger of the University of Heidelberg.

All light bulbs in Greece have to be replaced by dark suckers by 01 May 2006, in time for the coming tourist season.

Euro-sceptics are calling this bright idea the ‘daft *ucker’ directive. Retail outlets, who have complained about the short time span for implementation, say they expect some suckers today.
